Dico
The DICO file format developed by Ketenstandaard Bouw en Techniek is used to standardize data exchange in the construction sector. The DICO format (formerly known as SALES XML) focuses on structuring data exchange between suppliers, contractors, wholesalers, and other parties in the supply chain.
Files supplied in DICO format can become part of the data flow in Pimmix. This data can be seamlessly combined with other sources through smart use of “The Golden Record” technique. Instead of a one-time enrichment, a continuous data flow is used to make the most of this dynamic data exchange. Pimmix then offers the flexibility to edit or overwrite this data where needed.
Thanks to multi-source technology, both the automatic data flow and manual adjustments are preserved. Users can easily switch between these options at the item level, ensuring maximum control and flexibility.
Pimmix can also generate a DICO file and automatically place it in an FTP directory. This allows the receiving party to work with a standardized file.
Key Points of the DICO File Format:
- Purpose and Use
- Standardization: The format provides a uniform way to exchange product and order data in the construction and installation industry.
- Interoperability: Facilitates communication between systems used by different companies.
- Applications: Include quotations, orders, deliveries, invoicing, and status updates.
- Technical Basis
- Based on XML: The DICO file format uses XML (Extensible Markup Language) to represent data in a structured, machine-readable way.
- Schemas: XML schemas (XSD) are used to ensure the structure and validity of the data.
- Extensibility: The format is flexible and can be adapted to specific needs within the supply chain.
- Content and Structure
A DICO file may contain, among other things:
- Product data: Descriptions, item codes, and technical specifications.
- Pricing information: Unit prices, discounts, and VAT rates.
- Order information: Order lines, delivery dates, and status updates.
- Invoicing data: Invoice numbers, amounts, and payment details.
- Benefits
- Efficiency: Reduces errors and saves time through automation.
- Consistency: Ensures reliable and standardized data exchange.
- Integration: Can be easily integrated into ERP systems and other software.
